The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has finished sixth in the Sydney 7s and has dropped to fifth place in the World Sevens Series standings after losing to New Zealand 31-7 in the fifth place play-off last night.
Fiji’s try was scored by Eroni Sau while New Zealand scored five tries.
The All Blacks 7s were leading 26-nil in the first half before Tim Mickkelson sealed the game with a 60-meter try.
New Zealand’s other tries was scored by Caleb Clarke, Sione Molia, Vilimoni Koroi and Reagan Ware.
Meanwhile, Apete Daveta has suffered an ankle injury and has been replaced by Vasikali Mudu.
The national side will now travel to New Zealand for the Hamilton 7s next weekend.
Looking at the other results, Canada beat Scotland 14-12 to win the 13th place play-off, France beat Wales 29-12 to win the Challenge Trophy Final while Argentina beat USA 31-10 to win the bronze medal.
