Fiji is known as a team that can attack and I want us to be known as a team that can defend as well.

These were the words of Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s Coach Osea Kolinisau in Hong Kong saying he has always told the boys, they can win games with attack, but defence wins them championships.

Kolinisau says knowing the issue is one thing, being able to help his players solve it is another.

He says they want to give the boys ownership of the team and get them trusting the process they have when pressure comes.

Their defence – a key indicator of the coherence the head coach is focused on – has been impressive and it is something they want to build upon and make sure they get sharper on.

Kolinisau says they are not there yet, they are just scratching the surface.

Their defence is what helped get them through their first two pool games beating the USA 26-14 and then edging Ireland 21-19.

They will play Argentina at 4.11 this afternoon in their last pool game.

The cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.51 tonight, the cup semi finals will start at 7pm tomorrow and the cup final will kick off at 11.46pm tomorrow.
