Fiji has never had numbers on ballot papers that has been given to members of the public.

This was stated by Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem while answering a question about why there were no numbers on ballot papers in the 2014 and 2018 General Elections.

Saneem says Fiji always had numbers on the stubs that remained in the booklets.

The SOE adds that one of the paramount pillars of an election that is free, fair and credible is the right to secrecy of ballot.

He says that is an ultimate right that cannot be compromised.
