Fiji bids to host 15th FestPAC in 2032

Fiji bids to host 15th FestPAC in 2032

Fiji has placed a bid to host the 15th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in Fiji in 2032.

This was highlighted by Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs Pita Tagicakirewa to the Fijian media last night in Hawaii.

Tagicakirewa says Fiji will host the Melanesian Arts Festival in 2026 and Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu has also submitted a ministerial bid to host FestPAC in 2032.

He says Fiji hosted the first FestPAC in 1972 and has been a part of every Festival since.

When asked if Fiji has the capability to host the Festival, Tagicakirewa says Fiji has hosted big meetings before.

The Permanent Secretary says Fiji starts its preparation for the 2026 Melanesian Arts Festival this year and the bid for the 15th FestPAC in 2032 should be finalized in September.

He says if they are successful with their bid, the events could be hosted in Nadi, Lautoka and maybe even in the North to cater for the large number of delegates that will be arriving into the country.

Tagicakirewa told fijivillage News that the only issue is logistics, as only one third of the Fiji Delegation is currently in Hawaii as they allowed the other Pacific Island Countries to travel first on Fiji Airways before the remaining members arrived later last night.
