The Fiji Sports Council and Modern Electric have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration in promoting grassroots sports and community development across the country.

The partnership will see both organisations working together to support and promote the upcoming FSC Grassroots Rugby 7s and Volleyball Development Events, scheduled for 2026.

This new partnership builds upon that proud legacy, connecting Modern Electric’s technical expertise with FSC’s vision to nurture sports at the grassroots level and create opportunities for youth participation nationwide.

FSC Chief Executive Officer, Gilbert Vakalalabure expressed his appreciation for Modern Electric’s continued support of the sporting community says they are extremely grateful to Modern Electric for coming on board as a partner in their grassroots sports program.

Vakalalabure says their reliability and long-standing support for events nationwide make them an ideal partner as they work to expand rugby and volleyball development across Fiji.

Modern Electric Operations Director, Shaveer Abdul Aziz says they have always believed in powering not just events, but people and communities.

Aziz says partnering with the Council allows them to invest in Fiji’s future — in the young athletes, coaches, and families who represent the heart of grassroots sport.

He says through this partnership, both organisations aim to energise community engagement, strengthen youth pathways, and promote sustainable sporting opportunities that contribute to Fiji’s broader goals of unity and national development.

The Council extends its sincere gratitude to Modern Electric for their trust and partnership which is one that will continue to light the way for a stronger, more connected sporting future for Fiji.
