Fiji Red Cross Society has so far assisted 613 affected families

107 communities and 613 families across Fiji who were severely affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa have been assisted by the Fiji Red Cross Society.

They have also distributed 1,882 non-food items such as shelter tool kits, black packs, dignity kits, baby kits and disability kits.

Director-General Ilisapeci Rokotunidau says specifically in the Northern Division, they have assisted 94 communities and 534 families and also distributed 1,461 assistance packages.

Rokotunidau in the Western Division, they have assisted 9 communities and 16 families and also distributed 234 assistance packages.

The Fiji Red Cross Society has assisted 4 communities in the Eastern Division including 60 families and distributed 187 assistance packages.

Rokotunidau says four of their volunteers left last night for the Lomaiviti Group and a team will be leaving tonight for the Lau Group.

These teams will also conduct damage assessment and will be celebrating Christmas on the islands.
