The Fiji Men’s Hockey side had a slow start to their FIH Hockey 5s World Cup in Oman falling to the USA 14-3 in game 1 and then losing 8-3 to host Oman in their second match.

The side did have some positive outcomes scoring 3 goals against the USA who are currently ranked 24th in the world and are also champions of the Panama region and then giving hosts Oman a good run for their money.

Coach Shaun Corrie says they had a strong first half against the USA but then fell away in the second half.

He says it is important now for them to stick to the processes which pretty much affects everything down the line for them.

Corrie says that is one critical area that they need to manage and if they can do that upfront, then their game plan and everything that they have set out to do will fall into place.

The Fiji Men’s Hockey team is currently ranked 62nd in the world.

Fiji will play Malaysia in their third pool match with details to come.
