Fiji Men's 7s team qualify for quarter finals but discipline still an issue

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team will take on Ireland at 11.02 tonight in the third cup quarterfinal of the Cape Town 7s.

In other cup quarterfinals, South Africa will take on Kenya at 10.18 tonight, France will face Argentina at 10.40 tonight while New Zealand will play Scotland at 11.24 tonight.

Fiji defeated Japan 54-7 in their last pool match this morning.

Discipline is still a major issue as Fiji received a total of four yellow cards in three pool games.

Fiji defeated USA 28-14 in their first pool match where Paula Dranisinukula and Filimoni Botitu were shown the yellow cards and Isoa Tabu and Waisea Nacuqu were sin binned in Fiji’s final pool game against Japan this morning.

In the match against Japan, Waisea Nacuqu scored three tries while Jerry Tuwai, Alasio Naduva, Josua Vakurunabili, Aminiasi Tuimaba and Paula Dranisinukula scored a try each.

The cup semifinals will kick off at 1.39am tomorrow and the final will be at 5.56am tomorrow.

In the last round of pool matches this morning, France defeated England 33-12, New Zealand defeated Canada 33-5, South Africa defeated USA 21-15, Scotland defeated Spain 22-19, Argentina thrashed Wales 45-0 and Ireland drew with Kenya 24-24.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team has also qualified to the cup quarterfinals where they will take on Australia at 9.12 tonight.

Fijiana defeated Russia 38-19 in their first pool match, they lost to New Zealand 12-10 in their second match and thumped South Africa 27-5 in their last pool game.

In other cup quarterfinals for the women’s competition, France will take on Ireland at 8.50 tonight, Canada will face USA at 9.34 tonight while New Zealand will face England at 9.56 tonight.
