Fiji Labour Party Candidates Leader Aman Ravindra Singh speaking on our talk back show Straight Talk last night

Fiji Labour Party Candidates Leader Aman Ravindra Singh says if they form the next government they will remove VAT from 15 basic food items.

While speaking on our talk back show Straight Talk last night, Singh says that this is what the FLP government did in 1999, even though many thought it was not possible.

He also claimed that the current government removed VAT from perfumes and tyres which is incorrect.

He says that at this point they cannot confirm whether they will increase duties and taxes to meet the loss of revenue due to the removal of VAT from the 15 basic food items.

He adds this will require a lot of review.

Singh says they will also be reducing the fuel price if they form government but at this point they cannot confirm when and by how much.

FLP has 25 candidates in this year’s general elections.

Singh says they are ready to work with all parties except FijiFirst.
