Fiji Corrections Service to check on crematorium issues during annual inspections at Ovalau

Fiji Corrections Service to check on crematorium issues during annual inspections at Ovalau

After concerns were raised by residents of Ovalau on there being no crematorium on the island for the last year, the Fiji Corrections Service says they will be looking into the issue.

In response to questions by fijivillage News, the Fiji Corrections Service say they will be visiting Ovalau tomorrow for their annual inspections and will provide a full assessment report on this after arriving on the island.

The Fiji Corrections Service say it is sad to hear that Indo-Fijians living in Ovalau are transporting their loved ones to be cremated in Nausori.

They say they will also need to see which organisations are looking after the cremation process on the island and whether a cremation service is still operational or not.

They add they will be providing a statement later on how they will put a plan together resolve this issue.
