The Vodafone Fiji Bati side could not follow up their impressive win over the PNG Kumuls side from last week as they went down fighting 32-12 to the home side today in the Pacific Bowl final.

The home side scored a total of 5 tries to the Bati's 2 tries to claim the win.

The Kumuls took a comfortable 26-0 lead at halftime through tries from Edwin Ipape, Alex Johnston and Robert Derby who scored a double with flyhalf Rhyse Martin successfully converting all tries.

The Bati came back in the second spell to score two tries through Waqa Blake.

The Bati had themselves to blame for the loss after they did not capitalise on their chances to score points letting the Kumuls take advantage of it.

The Pacific Championships will be staged again in 2024, after the NRL and NRLW Premiership seasons, and will include men’s and women’s teams from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Cook Islands.
