Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau revealed that the team were not consistent throughout this season, and he is making sure that the team will be consistent in the way they play.

While speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, on his assessment of the team's performance in the 2024/2025 HSBC World 7s Series, Kolinisau highlighted that their consistency was seen throughout the series, but he always talked about it with the players that he wanted discipline and consistency in their game.

He says he was targeting the Los Angeles tournament to put together his A team, but they went through something they could not control which was injuries.

Kolinisau says he did not expect to have many of their core players injured before the Championship in LA, which is why he fielded a team consisting new players.

He adds after every game, he reflects on the learnings, what are the positives and negatives, and thinks of ways to improve.

The Fiji 7s Head Coach says they were not consistent enough this season.

When asked what he needs to fix, Kolinisau says the players should be consistent in their daily training and make sure they come to the same standard.

He says when people talk about championship teams or championship people, they can see they are consistent people, in the way they do things and the way they train.

He also highlighted the need for players' mentality to change when facing their opponents because when they play New Zealand, the players are more motivated to win.

He says players see New Zealand as one of their old rivals, and through that thinking, they play just to win.

Kolinisau says when they meet an unfamiliar team, the players take them lightly, do not know what to do and struggle.
