Fiji 7s Olympic silver medalist and Top 14 France base Castres winger Josaia Raisuqe has sadly lost his life while he was on his way for training yesterday.
He hit a train near a level crossing while he was driving to the training centre in Saïx, France.
Raisuqe was part of the Fijian rugby sevens team that won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, a significant achievement in his career.
Fiji Rugby Union says Raisuqe’s life and career were a blend of remarkable talent and personal challenges.
His sudden passing at the age of 30 has left a void in the rugby community, with fans and teammates remembering him for his dynamic play and contributions to the sport.
In response to the devastating news, his teammates were released from all obligations for the day, and the upcoming match between Castres and Clermont, scheduled for tomorrow, is expected to be postponed.
