Families who traveled to Colo Labasa for Christmas are now stuck and unable to return home due to the flooding at Colo bridge.

60-year-old Davendra Prasad who lives at Navudi in Seaqaqa, says the heavy rain has caused the river to overflow, blocking the main road to Labasa Town and leaving people stranded.

Prasad says some people came to Colo to visit family for Christmas but now finds themselves unable to return home.

He says it has been raining for a week, and yesterday’s heavy rain caused the river to overflow.

He adds that the people can not even go into Town to buy food or seek medical assistance. Prasad says it is a stressful situation for everyone, especially those who need to be at work.

He says even though the rain has stopped for now, the flooding continues to cause disruption.

Prasad urges the authorities to address the flooding issue and improve the bridge to prevent similar situations in the future.

He also urges everyone to stay safe and avoid crossing flooded rivers.
