With flood warnings and alerts issued for parts of the country, families in the Western and Northern Divisions have started to prepare for the next few days.

Tuluk, Ba resident, Sonal Kumar says they started experiencing more rain from this morning.

She says they currently do not have power supply and have stored water despite having access to boreholes.

Kumar says she has spoke to some of her friends who have moved livestock to higher ground.

Korotari, Labasa resident, Mohammed Akbar Khan says the weather does not look too favourable right now.

He says there are about a hundred livestock and vegetable farmers in Korotari.

Khan adds farmers have moved their livestock to higher grounds while vegetable farmers have avoided farming close to the river during the rainy season.

A flood warning is now in force for low lying areas near Rakiraki Town, Tavua at Nasivi and Ba at FSC.

There is a severe flood alert in force for low lying areas near major rivers in Western Viti Levu.

The rivers at risk of flooding are the Tuva River, Kubuna River, Nawaka River, Nadi River, Sabeto River, Vuda River, Vitogo River, Teidamu River, Ba River, Nasivi River, Yaqara River, Nakauvadra River, Penang River and Elevuka Creek.
