Beware of fake news relating to the elections on facebook and other social media platforms.
Pages have emerged during the campaign blackout period still promoting some candidate numbers, re-broadcasting interviews with some politicians, and some have gone to the extent of manipulating and editing interviews to change the meaning of what was said in the original interviews.
Some posts are creating fear, and also attacking the LGBTQ community.
The Fijian Elections Office Centre for Credible Election Information had earlier said that they had received numerous complaints about the page 'People's Transgender Alliance.'
They have found that this page is fake and violates many of facebook's community standards in its posts.
They have raised the complaint with facebook.
