The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s performance in this year’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific Competition has been disappointing for all its fans in Fiji and around the globe.
This was highlighted by Fiji Rugby Union Acting CEO Koli Sewabu when asked by fijivillage News about the Union’s view of the Drua’s performance this season since the FRU is one of the major stakeholders of the franchise.
Sewabu says there were certainly very high expectations from the fans and sponsors for the Drua to perform well this year.
He says however, people also must respect the fact that the transition and movement of players and recruitment of players are all part of the journey.
Sewabu says while winning is important, it is also important to understand that getting the Drua players used to the professional environment, and getting them ready for higher honours, are also important as part of their journey.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Drua finished in 10th place overall this season with 20 points.
The Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific quarter final will kick off this Friday with the Crusaders hosting the Reds at 7.05pm.
The Chiefs will take on the Blues at 7.05pm Saturday, and the Brumbies will battle the Hurricanes at 9.35pm Saturday.
