The CEO of FRU John O'Conner

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer John O’Connor says they will not take any attack on their officials lightly.

This is after a Naitasiri Under-19 player allegedly assaulted the referee in their match against Tailevu.

O’Connor says the maximum penalty the player can get is life ban.

He further says that they are also considering the future of the Naitasiri Under-19 team in the competition.

The CEO says he has asked the official to get a medical report so the matter can be reported to Police.

O’Connor says the match was awarded to Tailevu.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says there was an incident where the referee was allegedly assaulted by an under-19 player in the match between Naitasiri and Tailevu.

Naisoro says that the player was escorted off the field.
