The Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development or FRIEND Fiji has so far provided 754 stationery kits to students as they prepare for the new school year next week.

Founder and CEO Sashi Kiran says they have received more than 800 applications.

Kiran says most of the applications have been for primary school students and they expect to receive more application for secondary school students after the results are released.

Kiran says they are concerned if for economic reasons students drop out of school, they may never have the opportunity to return to school.

She has also thanked the UN Women for providing the stationery for primary and secondary school needs and the team at Munro Leys for their cash donation enabling them to purchase school bags for those entering the new school year.
