Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Manager Border charged for his alleged involvement in the unlawful importation of more than 4 kilograms of methamphetamine seized at the Nadi International Airport has been remanded in custody by the Nadi Magistrates Court.

Osea Dakai is charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs and one count of breach of secrecy oath under the FRCS Act 1998.

The matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court and will be called next Monday.

While responding to questions by fijivillage News on the integrity of FRCS operations and if it has been compromised, FRCS says as the matter is now before the courts, they will not be providing further comments in order to respect the ongoing legal process.

FRCS says they reaffirm their commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and public trust in all their operations.

Seven people have now been charged who include two police officers based at the Counter Narcotics Bureau with the Ministry of Policing and a Nigerian national.

They have all been remanded and will appear in the Lautoka High Court next Monday.
