FRA plans to widen Queens Rd from Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge to Suvavou Bridge

Good news for drivers as the Fiji Roads Authority is planning and designing the widening of Queens Road from the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge to the Suvavou Bridge to four lanes.

While responding to our questions, the FRA says this will help alleviate traffic congestion and improve traffic flow in the broader Lami corridor.

They say this is part of their broader medium to long-term Infrastructure Development Plan and it will be dependent on budget allocation.

They say the FRA's Strategic Plan prioritises the introduction of regular national traffic counts and asset condition surveys, these surveys will assess the current capacity of the road network and allow them to allocate resources more effectively to mitigate congestion.

The FRA will develop an expanded programme of new capital works specifically aimed at addressing the challenges posed by traffic congestion and the safety concerns arising from increased urbanization.

They say a definite time frame for this project has not been confirmed yet.
