FMF Foods Limited is venturing into a new field with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Yunnan Maimiao Automobile Service Company Limited, marking a strategic shift from its core food manufacturing business to a clean transport partnership that will bring electric vehicles to Fiji and the Pacific.
FMF Group Managing Director and CEO, Sanjay Punja says that the company has secured exclusive distribution rights for the new range of electric vehicles, including commercial and private models built for efficiency and durability.

He says the EVs are expected to be priced below $50,000 and offer significant cost savings.
Punja says that this partnership allows them to make sustainable transport accessible, practical, reliable, and affordable for all our people.
He says that the vehicles will come with an 8-year battery warranty, and the two companies plan to build a full spare parts and after-sales support network in the country.

The CEO says that the first showroom and service centre will open in 2025, with more to follow in Fiji’s North and Western divisions by 2026.
He says that from compact EVs to heavy-duty commercial units, the fleet will be adapted for Pacific conditions, focusing on clean energy, job creation, local training, and regional economic growth.
FMF calls the initiative more than just a business venture — it's an investment in the Pacific’s future.
Speaking at the event Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica called the occasion "historic in some respects."
He says that perhaps when we reflect on 2025, it may well be the year when Fiji made a genuine transition towards renewable energy.
He says that the government welcomes the transition to renewable energy because of its benefits in terms of carbon emissions and the general well-being of the planet.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with investors to enhance and increase the use of renewable energy in Fiji’s transport sector.
The new EV range is expected to hit Fiji roads by the end of the year, and FMF says if you are planning to buy a vehicle, it might be worth waiting to see what is coming.
