The Electoral Commission and the Fijian Elections Office have signed a memorandum of understanding with US based organization, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems which specializes in elections.

International Foundation for Electoral Systems conducted leadership training for the FEO senior management together with development of material for media training for the 2022 general election.

The agreement will enhance co-operation and collaboration to develop electoral practices in Fiji where the Elections Office will benefit from various activities of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.

Electoral Commission Chairperson Mukesh Chand acknowledged the contributions of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems to building the credibility of Fijian elections.

Chand says he is looking forward to better relations with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems in terms of key objectives of elections in Fiji.

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems and the FEO have had a cordial relationship in the past and the media was trained for the previous two elections by IFES directly.
