The VOU Fijian Flying Circus now underway in Suva is not only dazzling crowds with flips, drama, juggling, the Fijian village clown and Fijian flair, but it’s also lifting up the next generation of Pacific performers who are dreaming bigger, training harder, and flying higher as they also get ready for their international tour.

This year, all eyes are on Evangeline Kumar from Naitasiri, who stunned audiences last year walking the tightrope but this season, she’s going even further, performing the incredible hair hang act solo for the first time in Fiji.

She showcased this skill on the Tahiti Tour. Suspended high above the crowd by nothing but her hair, she floats with strength, control, and absolute grace, a feat that requires both intense training and deep mental focus.

Co-Founder of VOU, Sachiko Soro says watching Evangeline train for this act has been inspiring and to witness her showcase it on stage, live, she was so emotional and so were others around her.

Soro says Evangeline represents the strength and resilience of Pacific women, and now she’s become a symbol of how far our artists can go when we invest in their growth.

Joining her in the air are Alacia Ranavono and Caroline Balenacagi, who have just debuted a stunning new trapeze act.

The two young women have trained day and night to conquer their fear and master the art of flight, spinning, swinging, and catching in perfect sync.

In a world where most aerial artists come from big circus schools abroad, these Fijian women are showing that talent can rise from the islands too.

Co-Director of VOU, Edward Soro says this season’s production is more than just a spectacle.

He says it’s a bold dress rehearsal for something even bigger - a 3-year international tour.

Soro says the Fijian Flying Circus is preparing to represent Fiji on the world stage, and Suva gets to witness the raw, powerful, and deeply personal acts before anyone else.

Creative Director, Navi Fong says this is their Oscars moment, they are testing new work, refining new acts, and shaping what could be one of the Pacific’s biggest cultural exports in live performance.

Fong says every show at Vodafone Arena Carpark is a step toward that global dream and not only that but every ticket supports the dreams of their artists.

He adds this circus isn’t about lions or clowns, it’s about Fijian voices, Fijian bodies, and Fijian stories brought to life in the most magical and courageous way.

The people of Suva get the opportunity to see it now until the 20th of July and the western division gets to see it in Nadi from the 2nd to the 20th of August.

The show times are 7pm from Tuesdays to Fridays, there is a 3pm and a 7pm show for Saturdays, and 1pm and 5pm shows for Sundays.

Tickets are available on ticketmax.com.fj

Tickets are $15 for General Admission and $50 for VIP seating.

Door sales are available but don’t leave it to the last minute.
