Electoral Commission discusses 2022 election glitch and law reviews

Members of the Electoral Commission of Fiji had a meeting and discussed a few pending issues such as the pending audit of 2022 election glitch, the review of the three electoral laws and the progress of the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The Commission says this significant meeting marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between the Electoral Commission of Fiji and its line Ministry.

They say they also look at the review of the operations of the Fiji Elections Office, which serves as the administrative arm of the Commission, which was also a focal point of the discussions.

Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga also expressed his gratitude to the Commissioners for their dedicated work so far and he also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the Electoral Commission in achieving its objectives.

Turaga also provided insights into the Government’s objectives for the short and medium term concerning elections in Fiji, aligning with the priorities of the Commission.

Members of the Electoral Commission of Fiji was led by Chairperson Barbara Malimali and the Minister of Justice and Minister Responsible for Elections, Siromi Turaga.
