A 61-year-old man who was fully vaccinated has passed away due to COVID-19.
The Health Ministry reports the man was from the Northern Division and had a few days history of shortness of breath with weakness and had been taken to Savusavu Hospital in distress last Friday.
He was later transferred to Labasa Hospital where he sadly passed away.
The man had multiple comorbidities for a number of years which had contributed to the severity of his state.
He had not received a booster dose.
There have been a total of 864 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji.
