Education is the greatest equaliser; it lifts individuals, families, and communities.

This is the message from President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu while speaking at the Fiji National University (FNU) Alumni Fundraiser held at the Sheraton Golf & Spa Resort, Denarau, Nadi last night.

While commending the initiative, Ratu Naiqama noted that empowering the younger generation through education underscores its importance as a lifelong priority.

He says last night’s initiative is more than just about scholarships; it is about giving our young people the opportunity to realise their full potential.

He adds that by investing in their education, we are investing in Fiji’s future, ensuring that our nation continues to thrive in an ever-changing world.

FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Unaisi Nabobo-Baba says the event marked a significant step towards strengthening the university’s mission of accessibility and excellence in higher education.

She says every contribution made will directly support students through scholarships.

Nabobo-Baba says they are committed to ensuring that no deserving student is left behind simply because of financial barriers.

She adds education transforms lives, families, and communities, and together, we are shaping Fiji’s future leaders.

The former President and Patron of the FNU Alumni Foundation, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere echoed the importance of alumni engagement in building a stronger educational foundation.

Ratu Wiliame says this initiative demonstrates the power of collective giving.

He says when alumni and friends of FNU come together to invest in education, they are investing in the prosperity of our nation.

He adds that the scholarships funded through this event will open doors for bright students to achieve their dreams and contribute to Fiji’s development.

Funds raised during the event will go directly towards providing scholarships through the FNU Foundation.

The initiative is designed to assist bright and deserving students in accessing quality education, regardless of their financial circumstances, allowing them to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.
