The Ministry of Economy is expected to set up an Economic Intelligence Committee within the ministry to look into the various sectors in Fiji that continue to not declare income from overseas.
Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says there is still a lot of undeclared income that obviously needs to be declared.
Speaking at the Fiji Budget Forum Sayed‑Khaiyum says the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has put out a tender process calling for Audit Services to assist them.
He says the FRCS is going to advertise for specialised firms to actually provide services to audit sectors within Fiji who continue to not declare assets overseas.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says they will be giving an amnesty period for businesses to declare foreign assets sitting offshore.
Sayed‑Khaiyum has also thanked businesses that declared foreign assets during an earlier amnesty period given by the Fiji Revenue of Customs Service.
