Drua upset top of the table Chiefs 28-24 at home to record first win of the season

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have upset the top of the table Chiefs 28-24 at Churchill Park in Lautoka to record their first win of the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

The Chiefs dominated most of the first half scoring two tries through powerhouse hooker Samisoni Taukeiaho and loose forward Jimmy Tupou while Drua’s star flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong Ravula converted two penalty kicks at goal.

The visitors led 12-6 at the break.

The Drua started the second half strongly with a a converted try to Ratu Meli Derenalagi in the 42nd minute putting them into the lead for the first time in the match, 13-12.

Anton Leinert Brown regained the lead for the Chiefs with an unconverted try in the corner putting them ahead 17-13, before Vuate Karawalevu got the Drua back in front to 18-17 with an unconverted try in the 60th minute.

Ponipate Loganimasi extended the Drua’s lead to 25-17 with a converted try under the cross bar.

Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula converted a penalty in the 74th minute to put the last nail in the coffin and keep the game out of reach at 28-17.

Tupou Vaii managed to cross over with a consolation try for the Chiefs but it was too little too late as the Drua claimed their first win over the Chiefs.

The Drua play the Brumbies next Friday at 8.35pm.
