Dratabu Village celebrates Viriviri’s achievements
The village of Dratabu, in Nadi is currently celebrating the achievements of Samisoni Viriviri who created history by becoming the first Fiji 7s player to win the IRB 7s Player of the Year Award.

Speaking to our sister station VITI FM Viriviri said he is overwhelmed with the reception from the villagers as they have also prepared a farewell feast for the speedster.

Viriviri is expected to leave for France next month and will join Montpellier Rugby Club in the Top 14 Championship.

24 year old Viriviri who is the eldest of seven siblings dedicated his achievement to his mum who gave her all in raising them.

The former Nadi College Student said he was still in form four when he was told to stay home and help her mum make ends meet.

Viriviri who started as a humble farmer is ready to start his professional rugby career and support his family.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s side arrived this morning without coach Ben Ryan.

The team will share $35,000 as bonus payments, $20,000 for reaching the semifinal in Glasgow and London and $15,000 has been given by the Fiji Rugby Union Board for the earlier win at the Dubai 7s tournament.
