Ministry of Health Wellness Unit Head, Dr Devina Nand says diabetes remains one of the biggest killers in Fiji and continues to drive high rates of disability, including foot amputations, kidney disease and vision loss.
While speaking during the Diabetes Fiji annual Diabetes Walk at Albert Park, Dr Nand says wellness is about not only physical wellness, it's about mental, spiritual, intellectual and financial wellness.

She says our body is a temple and the mouth acts as a gateway and a person can make a choice to either let in disease or health.
Dr Nand stresses that wellness is also about eating right and investing in physical activity.
She adds it is about investing in good mental health, reducing stress, stopping alcohol misuse and the risks associated with kava and all forms of tobacco and drugs.
