Doctor Hussain creates history at the FNU graduation

First woman to graduate in PhD Arts and Humanities Law, Dr. Husnaeen Jasmine Hussain.

Doctor Husnaeen Jasmine Hussain created history in Fiji by becoming the first woman to graduate in PhD Arts and Humanities Law at the graduation of the Fiji National University.

Doctor Hussain received special accolades from the Chief Guest President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba.

Doctor Hussain who hails from Labasa, attended primary school in Savusavu and secondary school in All Saints Secondary says her PhD studies have been rewarding and also have had it’s share of challenges as well.

She says being a woman who multitasks work with studies is hectic with the various roles she has at home and work, but with the support and perseverance, she is grateful she has come this far.

Professor Baba thanked Doctor Hussain for leading the way for women after 13 years it got amalgamated, and said her achievement is a testament to the dedication and excellence that scholars like her can bring to the country, region, and the world.

When questioned by fijivillage News on what motivated her to pursue her studies further she says education is the only force one can use to transform their life better and urged other people to get a good education.

The University will conduct another graduation for PhD in Arts and Humanities in December this year.
