Verenaisi Ditavutu says representing Fiji at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England will be a dream come true.
This will be Ditavutu’s first World Cup appearance, and she says she will carry the hopes and strength of her Vanua onto the global stage.
She says she is grateful for the support of her family, friends, and the Fijiana XVs squad.
The former sevens player says the switch to fifteens rugby has been challenging, with the game involving more physical contact and less open space to run.
Ditavutu has credited senior players like Rusila Nagasau, Vika Matarugu, and Alowesi Nakoci for their guidance and encouragement.
The Fijiana XVs will depart our shores this Wednesday.
They are in Pool B alongside Scotland, Wales, and Canada.
The Fijiana XV's first match is against Canada on August 24th at 4.30am.
The World Cup is scheduled from next Saturday to September 28th.
