Discussions are underway for the proposed new executive building for the Office of the President with the China International Development Cooperation Agency to consider the project.

This has been highlighted as the President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu received a courtesy call from Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Fiji, Zhou Jian, at the State House today.

Ratu Naiqama warmly welcomed Jian and his delegation, reaffirming Fiji’s commitment to the "One China Principle" and affirming Fiji's longstanding and amicable relations with China.

This year, the Republic of Fiji and the Peoples Republic of China celebrate the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations as well as the 170th anniversary of the arrival of people from China in Fiji.

Ratu Naiqama acknowledged the enduring partnership between the two nations and expressed appreciation for continued cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Zian also conveyed to Ratu Naiqama warm greetings from Xi Jinping, President of China.

The President and Jian agreed to continue to further develop warm bilateral relations for the benefit of the people of both nations.
