Deans U15: Ravonu shines for RKS in 27-19 win over Marist

Ratu Kadavulevu School U15 Captain Rupeni Ravonu led from the front as he scored two tries to help his side secure a 27-19 win over Marist Brothers' High School in the Vodafone Super Deans quarter finals this morning.

The number 8 was instrumental in all facets of play for RKS as he gained momentum in attack and was brutal in defence.

RKS opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a penalty before Marist replied with a converted try in the 24th minute through Filipo Taubale to give them a 7-3 lead.

RKS scored an unconverted try just before halftime through Mesake Baivou to give them a 8-7 lead at the break.

The second half was thrilling as both teams fought tooth and nail.

RKS prop Mijieli Navori scored an unconverted try to extend their lead to 13-7 before Marist replied with a converted try to centre Abel Epeli to regain a 14-13 lead.

Ravonu then showed his power and speed to score back-to-back converted tries in the 43rd and 48th minute to give them a 27-14 lead.

Eparama Rokobici scored a consolation try for Marist in the 58th minute.

In another U15 quarter final, QVS thrashed Natabua High School 52-3.

Meanwhile, in the U14 quarter finals, QVS thrashed Nasinu 44-0, Marist edged RKS 7-6 and Grammar beat St Vincents' College 41-8.

The U16 quarter finals are underway.
