The Fiji Amateur Boxing Association (FABA) has announced Dayals Steels Pte Ltd from Ba as the major sponsor for this year's amateur boxing national Golden Gloves Championship.

The tournament will now be known as the Dayals Steels Golden Gloves Championship.

FABA Board member Thomas Johansen says the cash sponsorship of $10,000 is a huge blessing for the national federation as it prepares for the Solomon's Pacific Games this November.

He says the FABA Board are extremely grateful to Dayals Steel for their generosity and helping out a minority sport.

Johansen says the sponsorship funds will definitely be put to good use since 2023 is an important year for the sport with the upcoming Solomon Pacific Games serving as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Dayals Steels owner & Managing Director, Jay Dayal says the Dayal Group are proud to assist the sport of amateur boxing through their sponsorship.

He says sports plays an integral role in nation building as it unites our citizens and they are honoured to be a part of this nation building process.

The Golden Gloves tournament will be held next Friday and Saturday at the Stan Brown Boxing Gym at Walu Bay, Suva.
