There are a lot of things that Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s newcomer Raijieli Daveua is grateful for after joining the side this year, and one of them is the family support, especially the support from her husband.

While speaking to fijivillage Sports, Daveua says her husband has been supporting her throughout her rugby career and allowing her to play the sport.

She says in most Fijian families, when women are married, they are told by their husbands to stay home and do the chores instead of letting them continue their journey in sports.

Daveua says she is also grateful to her parents for the support they have shown towards her career throughout the years.

Daveua made her rugby debut for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s in 2016 before the Rio Olympics that year after making a switch from netball.

The Wailevu, Yasawa woman went on to represent the Fijiana 7s in two Olympic games and the 7s rugby world cup before being selected into the Fijiana 15s side that participated in the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

When talking about the Super W season that kicks off at the end of this month, Daveua says it will be a challenging yet interesting season for them.

The 32-year-old says she has set her goals this season and that is to help the Fijian Drua Women win back the Super W title and also to make it into the Fijiana 15s squad for this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Meanwhile, the Drua Women will kick start their 2025 campaign against the Waratahs on Friday 28th of this month at 5.05pm in Sydney.
