Damodar City complex under construction in Labasa.

The Damodar Group of Companies says the construction of the Damodar City complex in Labasa did not take place for two months as the company was sorting out its refinancing.

Manager Projects and Development and leasing officer, Cornelia Smith says Phase 1 completion work will re-commence in the next few weeks as the company has secured refinancing for Phase 2 of the project.

In Phase 1, a large supermarket, a variety of speciality stores, hair and beauty outlets, a bakery, restaurants, kids play area and car park are being constructed.

The second phase will see the construction of the cinema, food-court, and additional retail shops. Construction for the supermarket wing is expected to be completed by mid next year.

Smith says interest in Damodar City Labasa is still high and there are many enquiries for space.
