Cuvu College have booked their place in the Under-18 Vodafone Western Zone Secondary Schools Rugby final after holding off a determined Ratu Navula College side 23–16 in the second semi final this afternoon at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
Cuvu led 20–13 at halftime, but Ratu Navula dominated territory in the second half as they pushed hard for a comeback.
Despite a spirited performance from Ratu Navula, Cuvu’s defence held firm in the final stages to secure the win.
Cuvu will now face Natabua High School in the final, after Natabua edged Ra High School 14–10 in the first semi-final.
In other semi final results, Ratu Navula defeated Tavua College 10-0, and Natabua beat Sigatoka Methodist 15-12 in the U15 grade. Ba Methodist beat Ratu Navula 11-10, and Natabua High defeated Sigatoka Methodist 15-12 in the U16 grade, Natabua High defeated Ba Methodist 17-12 and Ba Pro Freebird thrashed Xavier College 57-12 in the U17 grade, Ratu Navula beat Xavier College 20-15 and Ba Pro defeated Nadroga Navosa 14-8 in the U19 grade.
In the Weet-Bix Raluve competition, St Theresa Catholic School thumped Votualevu College 32-14 and Sigatoka Methodist edged Jasper Williams High School 14-13 in the U16 semi finals. Jasper Williams High School thrashed DAV 66-0, and Natabua High beat Sigatoka Methodist 31-17 in the U18 semi finals.
