The Fijian Elections Office today demonstrated to political parties the counting and reconciliation of ballot papers at the end of Election Day.

While speaking at the 2022 General Election Logistics and Operations Workshop for political parties, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says counting will be done manually and results will be transmitted by Presiding Officers on the Protocol of Results sheets which are duly signed by them and physically transmitted to the Results Centre to be input into the Results Management System.

Saneem also took political parties through the complete Political Party Itinerary, giving them direct information as to when, where and how various processes would be taking place and the areas where political parties will have access and how those things would work.

Saneem says this critical demonstration was facilitated for political parties’ understanding of the counting process and also to assist them in familiarizing themselves with the process so that they could determine the manner in which they will undertake scrutiny of counting following the conclusion of polling on Election Day.
