Increasing crimes against the members of the Korean community in and around Suva was the main topic of discussion between members of the community and senior officers of the Fiji Police Force in a meeting today.

Korean Association Member, Min Kwan Jung highlighted that the most prevalent area of incidents were in Raiwaqa, Namadi Heights, Bayview Heights and in the Suva City area.

He adds that regardless of the time of night or day, it seems women and aged people were targeted more.

Commissioner of Police, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has given a reassurance that these concerns will be looked into.

Qiliho also acknowledged the Korean community that has over the years impacted Fijian lives through various forms of socio-economic development programs and assistance.

He says they hope to address these issues and reinstate trust and confidence in the people not only of the Korean Community but across the country as well.

The Commissioner of Police also highlighted that the Force will soon finalize a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean policing institutions adding that they are eager to formalize police to police cooperation efforts.
