Five Commissioners of the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission were sworn in today at the State House in the presence of President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and other distinguished guests.

The five commissioners include Dr Marcus Brand, Sekove Naqiolevu, Rachna Shiv Shri Nath, Asilika Laqeretabua and Rajendra Hiralal Dass.

Dr Brand is originally from Austria and has served in international positions for more than 25 years working with the United Nations, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Union and others, and has lived and worked in Europe, South and Southeast Asia and the United States.

Naqiolevu is a well-respected member of the Pacific legal fraternity, having served as the Chief Magistrate of Fiji from 1992 to 1997, and served as a Judge of the High Court and Court of Appeal of the Solomon Islands from 2005 to 2010.

Nath is a human rights advisor, strategic communications specialist, journalist and community leader.

She is skilled and recognised as an expert in strategic communications, stakeholder management, media management, documentary production, scriptwriting, and digital and social media.

Laqeretabua is a leadership coach, facilitator and trainer, committed to transformational leadership.

She is the Principal Consultant and sole director of SALT Inc. Ltd, a development consultancy in operation in Suva, Fiji since 2009.

Dass is an experienced and dedicated retired Airline Transport Pilot with a distinguished 43-year career at Fiji Airways.

He successfully advanced from a cadetship program to the rank of Captain, demonstrating exceptional leadership, professionalism, and commitment to his career.

Meanwhile, Dr. Brand has also been sworn in as the Chairman of the Commission.
