Schools in Lau will resume classes today after consultations between the Ministry of Education and the National Disaster Management Office.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says the decision to open the schools in the Lau Group followed a thorough assessment of the situation after Tropical Cyclone Rae, which caused significant damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and crossings, impacting school access.

He says that with the situation stabilizing and recommendations received from various divisions, schools in the Lau Group are now able to resume operations.

Radrodro says they are pleased to inform all students, parents, and teachers in the Lau Group that schools are now open and ready to resume normal classes.

The Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and they urge parents to assess situations in their area and make informed decisions about sending children to school.

Radrodro, further advised head of schools to stay in close contact with their respective Management Committees, as well as District and Divisional Officers, for any further updates.
