The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji is now conducting an audit of the Nausori airport after receiving a request from Airports Fiji Limited on Air Pacific’s intentions to resume Boeing 767 flights to and from Nausori airport.
CAAFI Chief executive Netava Waqa told Fijivillage news that they intend to complete the audit by Friday and will inform AFL accordingly on areas which need to be improved.

AFL Chairman Ronald Rickman said following Air Pacific’s request to resume jet services in Nausori, they immediately request CAAFI to carry out the necessary process to enable international flights to commence from Nausori airport.
Air Pacific, CEO John Campbell said Air Pacific terminated flights to and from Nausori in June 2007 as a consequence of the overall downturn in travel but more particularly because the airport infrastructure had declined to the point that operations could not be guaranteed the level of safety required by Air Pacific.
He said service will only commence when all the rectification processes are completed.
