Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne

Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne will be prioritising his team over their friendship with All Blacks coach Scott Robertson when the Flying Fijians battle the All Blacks in San Diego today.

Byrne says he has known Robertson for over 15 years and has always respected how Robertson coaches and prepares teams for tournaments.

Byrne worked alongside Robertson when Robertson was the coach for the New Zealand Under 20s in 2015 and 2016.

Byrne says he always admires as well how Robertson tells his story around what he does and Byrne has appreciated all the times they have met.

He adds all the respect and admiration for Robertson will be put aside during the game as it is a matter of choosing the Flying Fijians over their friendship.

The Flying Fijians will take on the All Blacks at 2.30pm today at Snapdragon Stadium.
