The 33 year old businessman charged with one count of bribery has been further remanded in custody while he files submissions for his bail.

Kelvin Vinod has been charged with one count of bribery as he is alleged to have offered Police officers thousands of dollars to avoid being charged following an accident.

The alleged incident occurred last week in Nausori when the accused was allegedly involved in an accident where he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nausori Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne says he will make a ruling on Kelvin Vinod's bail application today if submitted on time.

In his submissions, DPO East Yasin Ali strongly objected to bail saying there was a possibility Vinod would interfere with witnesses.

Ali further said a substantial amount was offered in the form of bribery adding it was also in the interest if public and justice to deter others from committing the same offence.

Vinod was earlier charged with one count of drunk driving and one count of dangerous driving.
