Bulldogs vs Roosters match postponed due to COVID-19 scare at player's child's school

The NRL has postponed today’s match between the Canterbury Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters at Bankwest Stadium due to a coronavirus scare.

Round five-match had to be moved after a Bulldogs player's child had a COVID-19 incident at their school.

Aiden Tolman will be tested for coronavirus and will self-isolate until the results are known.

Tolman’s child attends a school in the Sutherland Shire where a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bulldogs informed the NRL of the possible risk of exposure and an emergency meeting was held.

Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V'landys says there is a very remote risk of infection within the Bulldogs squad and to ensure there is no risk at all, the player will be tested today and the game delayed until tomorrow to ensure the test results have returned.

V'landys congratulated the Bulldogs for swiftly informing the NRL.

The match between St George Illawarra and Cronulla at which was originally scheduled for 6.30 pm will now be played at 6:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will take on the Roosters at 7 pm tomorrow.
