As the Fiji Bula Boys 23-man squad for the crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers semi final against New Zealand is expected to be announced tomorrow, the team will be without star striker, Nabil Begg.

Head coach Rob Sherman confirms this and says their focus is on tomorrow’s friendly match against New Zealand Phoenix in Wellington.

Sherman says Begg, who suffered from a hamstring injury has been excluded from the squad so that he recover as he would not be fully fit for the match against New Zealand.

When asked who will replace Begg, the coach says they have an extended squad and it's just a matter of finalising, as they can't afford to put someone on the field and then later make a substitution.

This is yet another blow to the team as they will be without the expertise of Roy Krishna as he is still recovering from an injury.

Fiji will play the New Zealand All Whites in in Wellington, New Zealand at 6pm next Friday.

In the first semi final, Tahiti will go up against New Caledonia.
