England head coach Steve Borthwick has updated his squad for the Rugby World Cup with the inclusion of veteran winger Johnny May while Fijian winger Joe Cokanasiga has been left out despite training with the side.

May who was not part of the initial 33-member squad for the World Cup was called in as a replacement for injured star winger Anthony Watson and was named to start on the left wing in their 30-22 loss to the Fiji Water Flying Fijians yesterday.

May and Cokanasiga were brought in to train with the English side last week due to injury concerns to Watson and Elliot Daly but with the medics’ clearance, Daly has been given the green light to head to the World Cup leaving Cokanasiga out of the frame.

Borthwick has also named Northampton Saints’ rookie halfback Alex Mitchell into the squad.

England’s first RWC game is against Argentina at 7am on the 10th of next month.
