Legendary comedian and actor Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness.
According to Hindustan Times, his last rites were held at the Santacruz Crematorium and were attended by close family members and friends.
Asrani had been a part of Hindi cinema since the 1960s, appearing in over 350 movies.
He was best known for his iconic jailer role in Sholay. He also worked with renowned filmmakers such as Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Raj Kapoor, excelling in both comic and serious roles.
Asrani was last seen in the Bollywood movie Dream Girl 2, which was released in 2023.
